Q) Where is Woodfield House Outdoor Education Centre?

A) We are 3 miles from Kidderminster Town Centre, in the grounds of Wolverley C of E Secondary Secondary School.

Q) Is it possible to visit the centre before booking?

A) Yes. We welcome visits from group leaders to visit the facilities and talk to centre staff about your requirements. Please contact us in advanced, so we can make sure someone is here to greet you.

Q) Is there a maximum number of activities we can book?

A) We can cater for small groups, ideally no smaller than 10, and larger groups of over 80. The number of activities will depend on the availability of instructors and the length of time you have available on site.

Q) What is your ratio of adult to child in a group?

A) Our group sizes are based on a ratio of 1:12

Q) Will our leaders be required to participate in the activities?

A) No. However, leaders are required to accompany their group during their activities.

Q) Are your instructors fully qualified?

A) All instructors are highly experienced and fully qualified for the activities they provide. All our staff and instructors are DBS checked.

Q) Do you have a designated first aider?

A) Yes, our Operations Manager is a fully qualified first aider and will be able to provide first aid while working.

Q) Can you provide risk assessments for our chosen activities?

A) Yes. Risk Assessments are available for all activities and will be sent to group leaders once you final activities have been confirmed.

Q) Are meals included?

A) No.  However, we are able to arrange either packed lunches or hot meals with Wolverley CE Secondary School caterers at an additional cost.

Q) What happens if it rains?

A) Activities will continue, unless the equipment becomes unsafe.  The decision to change to an indoor activity will be taken by the instructor and your group leader. We can provide waterproof clothing if required.

Q) Can transport be provided?

A) At Woodfield House we have a fully insured and licensed 17 seater minibus which can be used to transport small groups to and from school.  Please feel free to contact the centre to discuss the options. 

Q) Is your centre insured?

A) All instructors who work for our centre are covered by our comprehensive Public & Employers Liability Insurance.  This covers all of our activities, staff, visitors and participants while they are on site

 

RESIDENTIAL FAQs

Q) What is the maximum group size I can bring?

A) Generally 36 would be our maximum group size. However, we have access to a vast site which would allow us to accommodate larger groups. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the options.

Q) What are the washing /shower facilities?

A) Washing facilities are available in Woodfield House and hot showers with individual cubicles are available on site.

Q) We are staying overnight, what equipment will we need to provide?

A) We provide all the tents for your residential visit excluding any bedding.  We also provide all the necessary equipment for the activities, including waterproof clothing if required.  You will be sent a suggested kit list for your stay with your confirmation of booking.

Q) How many tents are there and how will they be organised?

A) This will depend on the number in your group and the split of girls and boys. Separate tents will be supplied for group leaders.  Our tents sleep combinations of eight and six people.

Q) Are evening activities available on site?

A) Yes instructors are available to run a range of evening activities for your group, this would be at a slight additional cost. We also offer advice and provide equipment so you can run your own evening activities.

Q) Does a member of staff stay at the centre overnight?

A) Woodfield House members of staff will work during the day from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, when a new member of staff will ‘take over’ the evening activities.  A night centre manager will take over from the evening staff and be on duty between 9:00 pm and 9:00am to support group leaders overnight.  It will be the responsibility of your group leader to supervise their group overnight.

Q) What are the security arrangements over night?

A) WH is located within the grounds of WCESS which will be locked overnight and covered by CCTV cameras. There will be a duty instructor on site overnight who will also have access to on call support if needed.
